Grasshopper Investments and its water project development company INWASOL – Intelligent Water Solutions (www.inwasol.com) have been active since 2009 in the development, implementation, and financing of water projects.

This includes projects in water infrastructure for centralized public drinking water supply as well as innovative, scalable, decentralized water solutions and business models in the private sector.​

Grasshopper Investments  is focused exclusively on designing innovative financing concepts and private investments in the water sector. It enables private investors to fund sustainable water projects. Grasshopper is driven by the lack of availability of private financing for water projects, although there is a high demand for financing of urgently needed investments in water and water infrastructure.

Intelligent Water Solutions GmbH (INWASOL) is a subsidiary of Grasshopper Investments. INWASOL is responsible for the development and implementation of Grasshopper projects as well as operational tasks such as operation and  maintenance.

Mareen Schneider founded Grasshopper Investments in 2009. A lawyer by education with a focus on capital markets and international business law - she set up Grasshopper to channel private investment into water using innovative business models and investable concepts. Her goal: complete solutions that combine strong water project design with solid financing.

Water is still a relatively unknown topic and often needs explanations. At the same time, Grasshopper holds an almost unique position in "private water project finance"; there are very few comparable companies worldwide. Mareen has international experience in the water sector, especially in Asia (with a focus on India and China) and the Middle East (GCC countries), alongside her own roots in Europe.
